Current development of Beijing urban industry
A. General view
By December 31, 2003, 1580 enterprises had been established dealing
with business of the nine major sectors of urban industry, accounting
for 37.6 percent of all industrial enterprises upon a certain scale
and with independent accounting. Employees in these enterprises reached
311,000, or 30.9 percent of all industrial enterprises upon a certain
scale and with independent accounting. Their sales revenue was 54.81
billion Yuan, or 14.7 percent of all industrial enterprises upon a certain
scale and with independent accounting.
B. Structure
Urban industry is now following a new pattern of development with food
and beverage, clothing and textile, and printing and packaging as the
mainstay.
In 2003, current-price output value of Beijing??s food and beverage
sector was 24.9 billion Yuan, accounting for 43 percent of the total
of the city??s urban industry. Clothing and textile sector was 11.52
billion Yuan, or 21 percent of the industry??s total, and printing and
packaging sector was 8.4 billion Yuan, or 15 percent of the industry??s
total.
